What:  The 2024 Masters Tournament on the PGA Tour

Who: Four selected professional golfers on the PGA Tour and their betting odds related to the 2024 Masters Tournament

When: Thursday, April 11 to Sunday, April 14, 2024

Where: Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia

Perhaps the most iconic event in all of professional golf, the 2024 Masters Tournament is here and will take place later this month at the famed Augusta National Golf Club. Entering this year’s competition, there are of course a handful of athletes that have differentiated themselves from the pack. Of course, the main competitor to keep an eye on is Scottie Scheffler who has been on an absolute tear this year. Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy is always a consistent favorite at the top of the charts but has never won the Masters before. Two other awesome athletes to keep an eye on are 2023 Masters champion Jon Rahm and five-time PGA major championship winner, Brooks Koepka.

In this report, SBS will be going over what to look for from each of the favored competitors at this tournament, along with a predicted winner and even more notes about golf betting.

The No. 1 Contender: Scottie Scheffler (Odds: +400)

As referenced above, Scheffler has been on fire for some time and is again the odds-on favorite to win this major tournament. He is currently recognized as the world’s number one player, first reaching this position in the Official World Golf Ranking in March of 2022, and has held that ranking for over 80 weeks. While he does not yet have the same amount of major championships as the other competitors on this list (the 2022 Masters is his only one), he still has been racking up wins like no one’s business. Most recently earlier this year, he became the only player to win The Players Championship in back-to-back years (2023 and 2024).

The No. 2 Player: Rory McIlroy (Odds: +1300)

The winner of four major golf championships, most recently the 2014 PGA Championship and Open Championships, he is seeking his first major championship in a decade. Last year, he, unfortunately, did not make the cut at the Masters but finished well overall in other major competitions. This includes a second-place outing at the 2023 U.S. Open along with top-ten finishes at both The Open Championship and PGA Championship. Additionally, he notched a top-ten outing at each major tournament in 2022, which included a second-place mark at the Masters. Could this finally be the year he breaks through?

The Third Contender: Jon Rahm (Odds: +1500)

Another accomplished player, Rahm is of course a staple near the top of the online betting markets each time there is a tournament for good reason. He was formerly the number one player in the World Amateur Golf Ranking for a then-record 60 weeks and later became the world number one in the Official World Golf Ranking. In June 2021, Rahm became the first Spanish Golfer to win the U.S. Open. More recently, in 2023 he won the Masters Tournament, giving him his second major championship. On the PGA Tour in total, he has 11 total victories and has finished in the top five of each major championship event.

The Final Contender: Brooks Koepka (Odds: +2000)

Rounding out the list of the top contenders at the 2024 Masters Tournament, Koepka is a sensational athlete who is coming off a very successful 2023 campaign. Last year, he won the PGA Championship, giving him his fifth overall major championship along with his third overall victory at the event. He is also a former world number one overall player, achieving this designation back in October of 2018. In his career, he has accrued nine championship wins on the PGA Tour along with a variety of other wins as well including seven on the European Tour and three in LIV Golf. In addition to his victory at the PGA Championship, he was able to score a second-placing outing at last year’s Masters Tournament.

Prediction: The 2024 Masters Tournament will be an awesome showcase of the best in the world that professional golf has to offer. Of course, Scheffler is the unquestioned hot hand in this competition and the pick here as well. While each contender could also make a run at the championship. An interesting storyline to follow here as well will be to see if McIlroy can finally break through and win a major title for the first time in 10 years – time will tell.
