Guardians start the mini-series with a thumping win!
Wow, what a start to the mini-series that was for the Cleveland Guardians. Although a win for Cleveland wasn’t a huge shock, the scoreline certainly is.
The Dodgers had won 17 from 19 in August before their 8-3 loss last night. The main bulk of the damage came in the seventh innings. This is when Cleveland turned a 3-2 deficit into an 7-3 lead.
The win for Cleveland is only their fourth in their last ten. But on a positive note, it is their third win over LA in their previous four meetings. The key is backing it up with another victory when the teams meet later and to seal the series.
That won’t be easy. The Dodgers have still won 17 of their last 20 matches. And they only lost last night due to a remarkable comeback. Comebacks like that don’t happen every day. And certainly not against a side as talented as the Dodgers are.
The Dodgers will know they had control of the fixture early on, and Dave Roberts will have quickly worked out just where things went wrong.

The Guardians can’t be totally written off here. They are second in the AL Central, and overall have had a pretty decent season. Okay, so recent results haven’t been great, but they will have taken great heart from their 8-3 win over LA in the opening match of the mini-series.
That said, how often do the Dodgers lose two in a row? Especially in that style. Not often. And we fully expect to see Dave Roberts’ team bounce back with a win.
