The NFL is a juggernaut and rolling along into October with already many football storylines occurring this season. With that in mind, an excellent contest for football fans is the $200,000 NFL MegaContest over at BetOnline. Per the BetOnline site, this is a free handicapping contest featuring $150,000 in weekly prizes and $50,000 cash for the Top 100 handicappers throughout the 2023 NFL season. This contest runs from week one of the NFL season all the way through week 18, but the postseason is not included. The rules are simple as contestants must pick five games against the spread (ATS) every week of the NFL regular season and those who pick the most correct games against the point spreads will of course win the weekly prizes.
In this article, SBS will be going over more of the nuances of this promotion along with more information about BetOnline.
Contestants with the most points win weekly cash prizes
Per the official rules page at BetOnline, this contest opens for the new week of the NFL season every Tuesday at 12:30 pm ET. Once the contest point spreads are released for each game, the odds will not change for the week. MegaContest picks can only be made online and you cannot make picks via phone, chat, or email. Moreover, per the main rules, once a pick is made, the pick saves automatically. Contestants earn one (1) point for every correct pick and a half-point (0.5) for a push. Every week, the contest will re-open each Tuesday and at this time, you can make your selection(s) for the week’s upcoming games.
Moreover, as you might imagine if you are a regular of BetOnline’s contests, contestants cannot select the same side twice or select both sides of the game on a single entry. Additionally, if a game is canceled and/or postponed, the game must be played by 2 a.m. ET on Wednesday of the following week in order to earn points in the MegaContest standings. The NFL regular season must consist of at least 12 weeks for the BetOnline MegaContest to be considered official. If the regular season is shortened to less than 12 weeks, the BetOnline MegaContest will be canceled and the $50,000 season-long prize pool will not be awarded.
MegaContest also features $50k cash in season-long pool
According to the same rules rundown, the $200,000 MegaContest features $150,000 in weekly prizes and $50,000 cash in the season-long prize pool. The $150,000 in weekly prizes is split equally into 18 equal prizes of $8,333.33 each week and the weekly prize is awarded to contestant(s) that correctly pick five games in an NFL week. Moreover, if numerous contestants qualify for the weekly prize, the prize will be split evenly amongst all winning contestants.
Finally, the $50,000 season-long prize pool is awarded to the contestants that make the most correct picks during all 18 weeks of the 2023 NFL Season. To qualify for a piece of the $50,000 season-long prize pool, you must wager $25 or more in real money in 12 of the 18 weeks of the NFL season. Also, per the rules of this contest page, while this promotion follows the normal terms and conditions of other BetOnline contests, BetOnline does reserve the right to modify the rules of this contest without notice.
